No, I’m not talking about rule changes to speed up the game, or getting rid of the infield fly rule or anything like that.
I’m talking about rookie hazing.
This has to be one of my favorite things in baseball. Next to a really sweet 6-4-3 double play. Probably because it’s just harmless fun. And embarrassing. And this is exactly why baseball gets it right. With this, you don’t have to worry about having an Incognito type of problem. Your biggest problem is if the players need to shave their legs before wearing a short dress.
Baseball is all about tradition, as we are well aware. And I do appreciate this one. Because it’s part of what makes baseball fun. Making guys dress up like women, carrying backpacks that are better suited for a kid. Wearing funny costumes. All of that is just part of why baseball is such a great sport. That and being able to get autographs from the players at the before the game. Such great memories for me. It’s just harmless fun. And you can never really have too much of that these days. Especially in a major sport.
Alright gang, I gotta keep it short this time, cause I’m being Super Mom and the fam is suffering from a yucky stomach bug! Prayers that it stays away from me!!
